ERM VIETNAM:
ERM has been working in Vietnam since 1993, and in order to meet the growing needs throughout the region, opened an office in Ha Noi in 1998. In 2002 we relocated to in Ho Chi Minh City.
Our team includes both local and international consultants with the technical expertise and detailed local knowledge required to address the particular needs of the region and conduct environmental, health, safety, risk, social and sustainability projects across Vietnam.
We work for major multinational investors in the oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, power and energy sectors, international development banks and financial intermediaries.
ERM PRACTICE:
ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning practice supports a broad range of sectors. Our goal is always the same: assisting our clients in achieving project success, from planning through construction and operation, while meeting expectations for assessment and management of impacts on environmental, social, health and cultural resources. By helping clients bring these issues into the project planning process early, we seek to help our clients meet environmental/social performance objectives, enable savings in capital and operating costs, and avoid significant approval and other delays.
ERM combines experience with global standards, such as the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards, with a thorough understanding of local regulatory systems and cultural sensitivities. We apply state-of-the-art assessment tools, from GIS to modelling and visualization techniques. We have also developed our own Impact Assessment Standard, which we use to maintain consistency and quality when other standards do not apply in a particular situation.
ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning practice has been ERM’s highest growth practice globally, growing over 20% per year for the past 5 years alone. The practice currently has over 1,000 professionals globally, representing the full range of technical disciplines, with sector experience across the board. What ERM’s practice is perhaps best known for, is supporting some of the most challenging development projects in the world. It is this reputation that attracts and retains the highly skilled consultants who comprise ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning team.
ROLE PROFILE:
• Be an active participant in environmental and social field investigations – including monitoring undertaking environmental data collection and assisting ERM’s social consultants in undertaking socio-economic baseline assessments;
• Gain technical knowledge of the processes pertaining to the collection of baseline environmental and social data, and move onto developing understanding of how impacts are modelled and assessed;
• Learn how to examine possible environmental and social impacts caused by a planned project;
• Focus on developing reporting skills with regards to environmental and social impact assessment and management plans;
• Work with ERM Vietnam office and other offices as requested in undertaking GIS, remote sensing and spatial analysis of Projects;
• Provide support in undertaking data modelling in a discipline such as hydrology, air quality and noise;
• Provide support in undertaking research and data analysis for the CL2 and CL3 environmental and social consultants with the IAP team;
• Work with the PATS team in developing skills for undertaking Phase One and Phase Two contaminated sites assessment; and
• As this position will be partly focused on gathering of baseline data, long periods may be required in the field – this can be upwards of two weeks at any one time.

• Bachelor degree in a discipline such as environmental science, environmental engineering
• Master’s Degree in a technical environmental discipline preferable
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in a related field preferable
• Must be fluent in English, reading, writing and conversation
