Scope of work:
- HSEQ for Coffee Asia and East Africa
- HSE at Volcafe Vietnam
Report to: Group HSEQ & CSR Manager (functionally) & Vietnam General Director
Working time 8:00AM – 17:00 – from Monday to Firday
INTRODUCTION
The role will be accountable for supporting the coffee trading offices and processing assets (such as mills, logistics & storage facilities) in the region Asia and East Africa in managing, further improving and harmonizing the Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and Food Safety management systems to ensure compliance to the applicable laws, internal group policies and standards and customer requirements, including the sharing of local best practice and experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain and distribute the HSEQ Systems & Manual, procedures, forms and HSE-Alerts, working closely with local teams to ensure understanding HSEQ standards, actively seeking opportunities to involve local staff in the improvement of standards.
• Maintain a constant and proactive view on new or changes in regulations, customer requirements and industry developments ensuring that the business is prepared for changes.
• Sharing responsibility with sites to attain the international certifications expected by our internal and external customers.
• Environmental management by providing assistance to sites in relation to permit applications for air, water & land use as well as waste management, as well as monitoring of energy use, water use and waste generated including the reporting of the carbon footprint.
• Monitor supplier and contractor management and performance, ensuring that agreed corrective action plans are implemented.
• Plan, execute and coordinates HSE and Food Safety training to raise awareness and increase proficiency in safe work practices and food hygiene, on a proactive and ad-hoc basis.
• Conduct site support visits and annual compliance audits to the locations and provides written reports to Coffee management and the Group HSEQ & CSR Manager.
• Support the HSEQ coordinators on the locations to ensure activities, products and substances are risk assessed, processes are managed via HACCP / Food Safety risk assessments, and that the required or necessary control measures are implemented.
• Investigate safety incidents, customer complaints or product quality issues that are reported and ensure proper records completed and submitted. Oversees and coordinates timely and appropriate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence and ensures “lessons learned” are communicated throughout Coffee and are incorporated into the HSEQ program, if necessary.
• Serve as the expert in the field of HSEQ when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance issues, third party safety & liability consultants and subcontractor representatives. Develop food safety & quality related procedures and guidelines to ensure company’s compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Compile and distribute periodic management reports relevant to HSEQ for the Coffee division in Asia and East Africa.
• Participate as HSEQ subject matter expert in projects to ensure controlled Management of Change.
• To be the leader to maintain ISO 22000 system and lead other audits

• 5 plus years’ experience in a HSEQ management role, preferably in a food processing environment (manufacturing / industrial).
• Detailed knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws including an IOSH / NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
• Proven track record of review assets & processes and delivering improvements in terms of quality, efficiency, operational effectiveness and safety.
• Influencing and behavior change skills within a multi-site operation.
• Proper experience of dealing with industrial machinery and processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management as well as factory worker level, a natural talent to lead by example combined with a practical ‘hands on’ approach when required.
• Adaptable and proactive in responding to changing commercial drivers and assessing the impact on HSEQ issues.
• Good English reading, writing and reporting skills.
• An availability and willingness to travel, possibly at short notice if circumstances dictate
