1. Context:
1.1. World Vision Vietnam
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization working to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities living in poverty. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. As a child-focused organization, WV’s work focuses on children, ensuring they are protected and their basic needs are met. WVV employs about 450 staff, of which 99% are Vietnamese nationals.
Currently, World Vision Vietnam is implementing 40 Area Programmes (APs) which operate in 5 zones: North (Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Hai Phong and Dien Bien), Yen Bai – Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa, Central & Highlands (Quang Tri, Quang Nam – Danang, DakNong) and South (Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh). WVV’s APs focus within one administrative district of a province which usually populated by ethnic minority people with high rates of poverty. A uniqueness of WVV’s Development Program Approach (DPA) is that AP team members are based at district level where the AP is located, which enables them to work closely with government partners and communities on a daily basis. Beside the APs, WVV is also implementing different Special and Grant Projects to meet the specific needs of vulnerable children in both AP and non-AP areas.
1.2 Tien Lu AP
World Vision Vietnam is implementing an Area Programs (APs) in Tien Lu District of Hung Yen Province. The goal of the programme is to improving child well-being (CWB) of children within their families and communities in 4 targeted communes in Tien Lu District through various interventions in the areas of MCHN, education, health, livelihood, sponsorship relation and leadership development, with the concern of child right, child protection, disability, gender and environment issues in all aspect of development process.
Tien Lu AP is in the nine year of implementation. The program is scheduled to be implemented with a long-term strategy in the target communes of the District, with the initial focus on cluster of 4 target communes in Tien Lu district including: Cuong Chinh, Minh Phuong, Trung Dung and Le Xa commune in the 2nd phase.
For Tien Lu AP, total population of 4 target communities is 5276 households with 20,799 people, in which there are 1713 children under 5 years old.
World Vision Vietnam (WVV) is partnering with the University of HongKong (HKU) for a joint project in Tien Lu Area Program, Hung Yen province. As part of this collaboration, a group of 14 students from the HKU will visit Tien Lu AP in their internship course to participate in needs assessment, life skill teaching for primary school children, communication campaign for local people and children, monitoring of swimming pool construction in Trung Dung primary School, Tien Lu District, Hung Yen Province.
To support for this group students involving in above activities and doing their internship course in Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province, WVV is currently looking for 03 volunteer Interpreters who are excellence in English interpretation
2. Job summary: Work as interpreter and translator to assist the group of students of HKU when they are working in Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province
3. Job details: The volunteers are required to support with interpretation, translation from English to Vietnamese and vice versa with the major tasks:
- To do daily interpretation for group of students from HKU during their internship course in Tien Lu
- To do translation of related documents those supports for HKU students doing their assigned tasks in the trip
- To be part of the HKU students’ group and involve in and support for all the tasks of the assigned group
- Volunteer may be required to support with data collection, importing and analysis.
- Volunteer may be required to support HKU students with some related logistics to support for HKU students during the time that they stay in Hung Yen.
- Volunteers will be the main contact between WV, Tien Lu AP with HKU students and provide regular updates of HKU students.
- Volunteer may be required to provide Tien Lu AP with recommendation, evaluation for performances of HKU students at regular basis.
4. Allowances: Accommodation, transportation, and food allowances as well as personal accident insurance are provided to support the volunteers to perform the task
