IT support officer monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks. You could be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person. Your job scope may include: 1. Help desk end users 2. Maintenance engineer 3. Technician 1. Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications 2. Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks 3. Talk staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues 4. Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults 5. Replace parts as required 6. Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports 7. Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system 8. Support the roll-out of new applications 9. Set up new users accounts and profiles and deal with password issues 10. Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate) 11. Priorities and manage many open cases at one time 12. Test and evaluate new technology 13. Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
